What AI search optimization costs.

Among the five agencies read, GEO is priced three ways: a monthly line (The HOTH $1,500 to $10,000, TESSA from $1,850, WebFX from $3,000), $1,500 once plus $399 to $695 a month, or inside an SEO plan. Tracking software alone has paid entry plans from $29 to $295 a month. Montrelia's GEO is inside one $2,000 plan with SEO. Every figure was read on October 6, 2026.

The short answer

Managed GEO is priced as its own monthly line by The HOTH ($1,500, $2,500, $5,000 or $10,000), TESSA (from $1,850) and WebFX (from $3,000). WebFX's cost guide gives $1,500 to $5,000 a month for a small business, basic strategy. USA Marketing Pros charges $1,500 once, then $399 or $695 a month. Third Marble and Montrelia include AI visibility in SEO plans: $499 to $3,499 a month at Third Marble, $2,000 at Montrelia.

At The HOTH, TESSA and USA Marketing Pros, a business that needs both SEO and GEO pays 2 lines. What each earns is in GEO vs SEO.

ProfoundNo dollar price on its pageA free trial and a custom-priced Enterprise plan.Trial: 50 prompts daily for 7 days, on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews.Trial: 1 region.

Entry plans track 15 prompts (Otterly Lite), 20 (BrightLocal) and 25 (Semrush). The units differ (prompts, checks, credits) and so do the schedules: Otterly checks daily, BrightLocal runs each location twice a month, so a similar price buys different amounts of data.

Which one fits

  • If you have one location and only want to know whether assistants name you, buy a tracker: BrightLocal Track is $31 a month billed annually, for 20 prompts, and costs less than any agency above.
  • If your site already has the SEO groundwork and you want a one-time project: USA Marketing Pros' GEO Foundation is $1,500 for up to 15 pages, below our $7,000 minimum term.
  • If you want off-page placements and no long-term contract: The HOTH starts at $1,500 a month, $500 under our plan, and lists earned media and links.
  • If you want SEO, Google Business Profile work and weekly raw AI answers on one bill: our plan, described on the GEO page and the SEO page, is $2,000 a month plus $1,000 once. The minimum term is 3 x $2,000 + $1,000 = $7,000. It does not fit a budget under $2,000 a month; the SEO cost calculator says what fits.

What the numbers cannot tell you

  • A starting price is a floor. TESSA's page says one location in one market sits at the starting figure, and more locations, a larger site or a more competitive market raise it.
  • Agency prices count different work (off-page placements, pages restructured, posts, pages optimized a month), so a lower monthly price is not a lower price for the same work.
  • Location differs by tool: BrightLocal anchors each query to a location, Otterly sets a country per prompt and Peec sets location by country code. A country setting places the run in the country, not in the town.
  • Answers vary. In SparkToro's test (600 volunteers, 12 prompts, 2,961 runs, run November and December 2025, published January 27, 2026) the chance that ChatGPT or Google's AI gave the same list of brands twice was under 1 in 100. Read a tracker as a count over repeated runs; the sample size calculator shows the range a count allows.
  • GEO quotes may list llms.txt or FAQ schema, as USA Marketing Pros does. Google's position on both is in GEO, AEO and llms.txt: claims checked.
  • No price here buys a mention, and we have no client results. Our own two Ask Brave checks (September 28 and October 2, 2026) named Montrelia in 0 of 4 buyer questions each time, as the AI visibility scoreboard shows.

Questions people ask

What does GEO cost at Montrelia?

$2,000 a month, with SEO in the same plan, plus a one-time $1,000 setup fee. The minimum term is 3 months, which is $7,000 in all, then month-to-month. The plan includes a written report every week, including the raw AI answers.

Is there a free way to try an AI visibility tool?

On October 6, 2026: AthenaHQ lists a free Essential plan with 300 credits, Profound a free trial of 50 prompts daily for 7 days, BrightLocal a 14-day free trial of up to 20 prompts, and Otterly a free trial (length not given). Semrush says its standalone AI Visibility Toolkit has no trial, while its pricing page offers a 7-day free trial and lists 50 prompts in Semrush One Starter.

Can I do GEO myself for less than an agency?

WebFX's guide puts do-it-yourself tools at $10 to $250 or more a month, some free. It also says a software-only budget still needs someone to review the data and update pages. WebFX sells GEO services, so read that as a seller's view. Your own hours are the other cost.

Can any provider guarantee an AI assistant will name my business?

No. USA Marketing Pros' own page says no honest provider can guarantee a citation, because AI answers are not directly controllable. We do not promise a recommendation, a ranking, a date or a number of leads.
